Volunteer

Volunteers are the Heart of St. Patrick’s!

Without the many volunteers who give their time to our school, we would not be able to offer many of the extra-curricular, community building, or fundraising activities that make St. Patrick’s so great. Please take a moment and read through the volunteer activities that are available now and moving forward. Choose activities that you might like to be a part of, and return the back page to the main office. Someone will contact you to provide more information.

Home and School Association
Our Home and School Association (HSA) serves as the communication vehicle between the school and the home. HSA is an all-volunteer organization that is responsible for planning community-building events, organizing room parents for each class, and overseeing a number of fundraising events. HSA also sponsors guest speakers for our parent community, and partners with the school board and principal on many planning and strategy efforts.
Co-Chairs: Lori Beecher (poohetmoi@aol.com); Cate Thorin (cate.thorin@gmail.com) and Crystal Truslow Schmidtlein (crystal.schmidtlein@stpatrickadw.org)

Classroom Opportunities
Each class has two room parent volunteers who will help coordinate parent volunteers for classroom holiday parties. In addition, each class is responsible for the planning and implementation of one community building event, like BINGO, Halloween Dance, or Breakfast with Santa. All families are expected to participate in their class event. Watch for e-mails from your room parents with more information on these opportunities!

St. Patrick’s School Pub Night
Jump in and help plan this great event! It’s a wonderful way to connect with others in the school community. We’ll transform our school cafeteria for this fun adult only night. There are games and raffles to coordinate, a live and silent auction, and of course food, music, and decorations! It takes many hands to pull these big events together! Theme and date to be announced at Back to School Night!

Golf Tournament
This year’s golf tournament returns to Manor Country Club on Monday, September 25th. Hole sponsors, golfers, and volunteers are still needed. Interested in learning more about how you can help out?

2023 Golf Tournament Chair: Nate Beecher (beechnathan@hotmail.com)

School Advisory Board
The St. Patrick’s School Board is a voluntary committee that functions as an advisory board to the principal and pastor. The board’s responsibilities include input and decision making for policy, academics, finance, planning, and marketing. Board meetings are once a month on Friday mornings.

Co-Chairs: Jim Schmidtlein (jimschmidtlein@gmail.com) and Lara Woodruff (laraewoodruff@gmail.com)

St. Patrick’s Athletic Association
St. Patrick’s Church fields teams in a variety of instructional and competitive sports for children in kindergarten through high school. Fall sports include soccer and cross country. Basketball is offered in the winter. In the spring, we offer softball and track and field.  We welcome new volunteers in roles such as coaching, serving on the athletic association board, uniform management, and more.

Athletic Director: Dave Rizzo (David.Rizzo@marriott.com)

Hot Lunch
Volunteers are needed every day to help serve hot lunch! Come give an hour or your time if you are available during lunch time. You can serve once or twice a month, or more often if you are available.

Hot Lunch Coordinator: Nora Mitchell (nora.mitchell@stpatrickadw.org)

Spring Musical
Our St. Patrick’s actors and actresses will perform perform again this year.  Auditions will be open to all students in grades 5-8.  In order for the show to be a success we will need the help of many volunteers.  Any and all volunteers are welcome!  However, all parents of students in the show must volunteer for one of these jobs:  backdrops, cast party, concessions, costumes, light board, make-up/hair, photography, program, props, publicity, and sound board.  A complete practice schedule should be available in late Fall, and the big reveal of the 2024 show will come in October!

Please contact Gina Swanda (gina.swanda@stpatrickadw.org) if you are interested in volunteering and/or if your child is interested in the musical.

I’m interested and would like more information!
